Cheese and wine




The cheese and wine tasting was yet again a very enjoyable evening.

I have compiled a list of the cheeses and Mike Redfern has supplied a list of the wines. Mike makes regular trips to Chester, so if you would like to order any of these wines, see detail below.

The Wines

The Cheeses

  • Caws Cenarth Welsh Brie A delicate, rich and creamy Welsh Brie.
  • Crabtree Another new cheese from Anne Connolly, made to an Alpine recipe, this is fruity, creamy and well rounded with a supple texture.
  • Bournes Organic Cheshire A farm-made Cheshire from Mr & Mrs Bourne. A wax covered pasteurised Cheshire. Crumbly and fresh.
  • Ramhall Ewe A hard cheese from the West Midlands with a sweet, nutty flavour and a slightly salty tang. A Cheese Shop favourite.
  • Mrs Kirkham's lancashireMade on a small farm at Goosnargh, Lancashire from unpasteurised cow’s milk, this cloth-bound and buttered cheese is complex and sharp but creamy in the mouth.
  • Garstang Blue A creamy, strong blue made by Dewlay. Excellent for eating with a cracker or using in cooking.
  • Cheshire Blue A cloth-bound, creamy and full-flavoured cows-milk cheese with a pronounced blue taste and a strong herbaceous flavour.
